		<description>In retrospect, SML woudln't have this problem at all.  Since more than one thing uses the &lt;code&gt;x =&gt; x&lt;/code&gt; notation (&lt;code&gt;fn&lt;/code&gt; and &lt;code&gt;case of&lt;/code&gt; at least).  So in the SML parser, there isn't a single-token substitution that works.</description>
